Letter from the Chief

Brothers,

Once again, we find ourselves on the dawn of a new year. Our summer vacations are coming to a close, and the school year is just on the horizon. As the summer transitions into spring, we find ourselves happy to have had the summer break that we enjoyed, but excited and hopeful for all of the new opportunities that lie ahead, in school, in sports, or in whatever else we participate in. I find myself excited and hopeful for the upcoming months because Section NE-2A is pushing forward in its 10th Anniversary and leading the Order of the Arrow as one of the top Sections in the country, and you too should be excited!

In July, the members of the Council of Chiefs met at Quail Hill Scout Reservation for fun and fellowship, meeting and greeting fellow members of the Council. While enjoying the company of the leaders of the Section, we all got to know a little more about each other and are excited and willing to work together to make this year a great success. At the end of July and beginning of August, the leadership of each of the Lodges converged on Indiana University at Bloomington for the National Leadership and Conservation Summit, where several National programs were rolled out, such as the 2008-2012 Order of the Arrow Strategic Plan and plans for ArrowCorps5. With 28 Arrowmen, Section NE-2A was the most represented Section in the entire Northeast Region. This could not have been done without the continued support of our Lodges. Although our Region lost in the finals to the Central Region in the National Dodgeball Tournament, everyone had fun learning about the new and innovative national programs and enjoying the company of their fellow Arrowmen.

Thank you to those of you who have dedicated yourselves in the spirit of servant leadership for the betterment of all Arrowmen in NE-2A by serving on the Council of Chiefs, either for the first time or another term. You truly are the best of the best that the Order has to offer, and, because of your hard work and dedication to our Section, every NE-2A Lodge will continue to grow and prosper.

Section NE-2A is recognized as one of the best Sections in the entire country because of its dedication and service to its Lodges and the quality program our Lodges provide. The role of the Section is to facilitate Lodge-to-Lodge relationships by providing resources and opportunities for Lodges to teach and learn from each other. This year, we will continue to provide all that we can to the great Lodges in our Section. Through these relationships, all of us will continue to grow into the communities of Brotherhood that our founders envisioned.

I look forward to this exciting year, and will see each and every one of you in Puerto Rico for the 2008 NE-2A Conclave, hosted by Yokahu Lodge!
